In 1940,
there was a young couple who sang and played hymn’s in different
churches around the east coast. This was a very unusual
situation, for this young couple was a black man mixed with
Indian blood, and a young German woman. Can you even imagine, in
those days what they must have went through? But you know what,
nothing or no one could touch them, or harm them in any way,
because God was there protecting them all the way. It was God’s
will for them to do exactly what they were doing. Along with all
the problems they were having, they decided to run off and get
married. Then on top of that, they were ready to start a family
in 1944. All together there are 6 of us. I have 4 brothers and 1
sister. God blessed my mom and dad with many gifts. One special
gift was that dad with my mother’s help, taught all 6 of us to
be musically inclined. We were taught to sing and play musical
instruments by ear.
The instruments consisted of electric
guitar; steel guitar; base fiddle; electric base; etc: At the
age of three years old my oldest brother opened at a race track
in Delaware. I was the latest starting out in the musical field.
I was four years old, very timid and shy. If I could have had my
say about it, I would not have been on that stage, but I wanted
to please my father. My other brothers and one sister, started
singing and playing at the age of three. Our music was country
western, hymns, and our acts were performed on TV, radio, movie
theaters, parks, etc: As we grew up, and started our own
families, we out-grew our music on the stage. When mom had
holiday dinners, we would all feast on her country cooking, and
get together after dinner for good old family favorite hymns,
and country music. We got so much enjoyment out of doing that.
Dad started teaching his grandchildren to sing. He took them to
different churches in Jersey, to sing. He even put them on the
radio. They were known as the Cousinettes.
Well my dad and mom
have long gone home with the Lord, but they will always be alive
with me, in my heart. At my fathers funeral some of his
grandchildren sang and recited poetry. When God took dad and mom
home with him, those were glorious days, for we knew deep in our
hearts that they belonged to God. God made it possible for my
husband to put this Gospelviews.com site together for me to
express my views on his word. I ask for God’s guidance in doing
so and give him all the glory, honor, and praise. God bless and
keep you, and please continue to visit me at Gospelviews.com.
